Week 2
I spent the weekend with Ian Campbell, he was nice enough to give me his ticket for the last home game of the season for Manchester United, it was by far one of the best experiences I’ve had, and my first “football” game!
This week I was out on the road with Ian Campbell, I was able to go and visit many places with him like Leigh Sports Village, Westhoughton Cricket Club, and the Warrington Wolves rugby stadium. It was exciting seeing my first rugby field. I also went with Ian to Hart Common Golf Club where there was a Pro-Am being played and we were showing off what some of Campey’s equipment could do. I was also able to not only learn some things about the turf practices used on golf courses, but also had to opportunity to role some greens myself before the Pro-Am started.
After the Pro-Am we loaded up and headed back to the yard, where we packed up to go to Burrow in Furness where we were meeting up with Richard Haywood, to attend a Grounds and Natural Turf Improvement Program seminar. On the way, up to Barrow in Furness we made some stops along the way, one being at the Lancaster Golf Club, where I got to see one of the most unique club houses. We also stopped along the shore side of Morecambe, where I got to enjoy an ice cream cone with a great view!
On Friday I went with Richard Haywood to Glasgow Scotland, where I had the weekend to do some sightseeing. I spent Friday on a open top bus tour around the town of Glasgow, where I learned a lot about the town. Saturday I spent the day in Edinburgh where I got to see the Castle, which was an awesome experience to get to go to my first castle! Sunday I spent the day at a beerfest with Richard, where I saw my first Scottish band that played music with bagpipes.
On Monday, we are going to start setting up for a 3-day renovation of Cappielow Pitch in Greenock, I am looking forward to taking part in the renovation process!
